Terms & Conditions

1. About this service

OurManifesto.uk (“the Service”) is operated by Scrapz Ltd, trading as scrapz.co.uk. The Service is open to citizens across the whole of the United Kingdom — England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland — and allows registered users to explore UK political party policies, build a Personal Manifesto, and express opinions through comments and membership.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 14 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly accept registrations from anyone under 14, and we will close any account we discover to belong to a child under 14. By registering, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you will keep it up to date. Residents anywhere in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland) may also declare their voting eligibility — this is entirely optional, covers all UK-wide and devolved elections, and is used only to enrich anonymised aggregate statistics.

Citizens aged 14–17 are welcome but are treated as minors under our Children’s Code commitments: paid plans, one-off purchases, and the Politoratzi research tier are not available until you turn 18. All free features — building a Personal Manifesto, joining a party, commenting on policies, and reporting content — remain fully available.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or incites hatred on the basis of race, religion, gender, sexuality, or disability.
  • Impersonate any person or organisation, including any political party or public figure.
  • Attempt to manipulate or game membership statistics, leaderboards, or research outputs.
  • Use automated tools to scrape, harvest, or mirror data from the Service without prior written consent.
  • Share, sell, or transfer your account to another person.
  • Type personally identifying information — your own or anyone else’s real name, address, phone number, email, National Insurance number, or similar — into freetext fields (comments, your bio, policy or party text, feedback, or flag reasons). We do not scan freetext for such identifiers, so it is your responsibility to keep them out; see the Privacy Policy for why this matters to your special-category political data.

We reserve the right to remove content, suspend, or permanently ban accounts that breach these rules. Decisions are made at our sole discretion and are final.

4. Comments & public content

Comments you post on policies or when joining/leaving a party are associated with your display name and may be visible to other users. You retain ownership of your words but grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and distribute them on the Service. We moderate content and may hide or remove comments without notice.

Membership join and leave comments are logged and may appear in activity feeds visible to other users. Do not include sensitive personal information in comments.

Exporting and sharing off-site. Where the Service lets you export or share your data off-site — for example downloading a Political DNA card or creating a public share link — doing so is your own act and your own choice. Once your data leaves the Service it is outside our control: we cannot recall, edit, or delete copies that you or third parties then hold, and you are responsible for what you choose to publish elsewhere and for any link it creates between your political data and your real identity. See our Privacy Policy for the full explanation.

5. Personal Manifestos & policy data

Policy information is sourced from publicly available party manifestos and official communications. We strive for accuracy but make no warranty that it is complete or up to date. Personal Manifesto builds are for entertainment and educational purposes only — they do not constitute political advice or endorsement of any party.

5.1 Citizen Parties

A Citizen Party is a community group created by a registered user (the "Party Leader") inside the OurManifesto.uk platform. Citizen Parties appear alongside real registered political parties in our directory, leaderboards and Politoratzi insights for the purpose of civic engagement and discussion. They are not, and must not be represented as, real political parties.

By creating a Citizen Party you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to the legal disclaimer shown next to the creation form. Specifically, you acknowledge and agree to each of the points listed above, in addition to the rest of these Terms.

  • Creating this Citizen Party does not create a legal entity of any kind. No company, partnership, association, unincorporated body or other legal person comes into existence as a result.
  • It is not a registration with the UK Electoral Commission, Companies House or any equivalent body in the United Kingdom or elsewhere. It does not appear on any statutory register.
  • It does not confer any right to campaign for, nominate candidates for, or stand for seats in the House of Commons (Westminster), the Senedd, the Scottish Parliament (Holyrood), the Northern Ireland Assembly (Stormont), the European Parliament, local government, parish or community councils, mayoral or police-and-crime-commissioner elections, or any other elected body.
  • It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or representative of any real registered political party. Any visual or naming similarity to a real party is not a claim of authority on that party's behalf.
  • The Citizen Party exists only on OurManifesto.uk. Although Citizen Parties appear alongside real parties in our listings, leaderboards and Politoratzi insights, this is editorial parity for civic-engagement purposes only and carries no legal weight outside the platform.
  • You are responsible for ensuring that the party name, branding, imagery and content you publish do not infringe third-party trademarks, defame any person or organisation, or breach our Acceptable Use rules. We may take down content that does.

We record each Party Leader's acceptance of this disclaimer (including the version of the wording, the timestamp, and basic request metadata such as IP address and browser user-agent) for audit purposes. If we materially change this wording in future, new party-creation requests, edits and publish actions will require re-acceptance at the updated version.

Every public Citizen Party page also carries a short plain-English notice summarising these points so that visitors are not misled into believing the party is a registered political organisation.

6. Paid plans & comment packs

Party Leader, Citizen Plus and Politoratzi subscriptions are billed monthly or annually via Stripe. Policy-block credits, manifesto boosts and comment packs are one-off purchases. All prices include VAT where applicable. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date.

Age restriction. All paid plans and one-off purchases are restricted to citizens aged 18 or over. We refuse paid checkout server-side for any account whose declared age band is below 18.

6.1 Your right to cancel — UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you have a statutory 14-day cooling-off period from each billing event for any subscription you take out with us. A “billing event” means your initial purchase and every subsequent renewal.

  • Inside the 14-day window: cancelling from your Studio page ends your subscription immediately and we automatically refund your most recent payment in full to the original payment method via Stripe (typically arrives within 5–10 working days).
  • Outside the 14-day window: cancelling stops the next renewal and your subscription is set to expire at the end of the current billing period. You retain access until that date and no refund is due.
  • How to cancel. Use the Cancel subscription button in your Studio's billing panel. You can also write to us at hello@ourmanifesto.uk with the same effect.
  • Confirmation. We send a confirmation email summarising the cancellation outcome (immediate-with-refund or end-of-period) to the address on your account.
  • One-off purchases (policy-block credits, manifesto boosts, comment packs) are digital content delivered immediately on payment. If you would like the statutory 14-day cooling-off period to apply you must not redeem the credit before contacting us; once redeemed your right to cancel is lost (Reg. 37).
  • Account-level grants issued by an administrator are not paid Stripe subscriptions and so the 14-day refund right does not apply.

Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

7. Politoratzi data

Aggregate, anonymised statistics about Personal Manifesto builds, policy popularity, and constituency alignment may be made available to Politoratzi-tier subscribers or published publicly. No individually identifiable data is shared without your explicit consent.

If you take out a Politoratzi or Politoratzi Lite subscription, your use of the research dashboards and any data you republish from them is also governed by our Politoratzi Subscriber Terms, which set out the licence, permitted purposes, attribution requirements and risk allocation that apply to that data.

8. Intellectual property

The OurManifesto.uk name, logo, and all original content created by us are owned by Scrapz Ltd. Party names, logos, and policy text are the property of their respective parties and are used for informational and comparative purposes under fair use principles.

9. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Personal Manifesto outputs, policy comparisons, leaderboard rankings and Politoratzi research outputs are provided for general information and are not journalistic verification, legal advice, financial or investment advice, electoral advice, polling, or professional statistical analysis. We are not responsible for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Service or your reliance on, or republication of, any such output.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under English law (including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability under section 49 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015). Subject to that, our total aggregate liability to you arising out of or in connection with the Service (whether in contract, tort — including negligence — or otherwise) shall not exceed the greater of (a) £100 and (b) the total fees you paid us in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Additional risk allocation, indemnity and liability rules apply to use of the Politoratzi tier and are set out in our Politoratzi Subscriber Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

OurManifesto.uk is for citizens across the whole of the United Kingdom — England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Nothing in this clause removes or limits your statutory rights as a consumer under the law of the part of the UK in which you live. If you are resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in respect of these Terms in the courts of your home jurisdiction, and your local consumer protections continue to apply.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the Service. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
